Network DesignSinclair Associates have many years experience in the design of telecommunications networks. From IBM SNA mainframe networks to modern multi-service high speed LAN and WAN infrastructures we have the knowledge and expertise you require. Our network team are all Cisco certified to at least CCNA ™ level, and some up to Professional level in both design and support disciplines (CCNP ™ and CCDP ™). Sinclair Associates use a top-down approach to network design; that is to understand the business requirements fully and design a network based on the current and future requirements of the business. This approach is favoured over the alternate method of designing a network based on the latest technologies, which does not always result in the best network for the client.
Reference InformationThe following projects are a small selection of those that have been completed by Sinclair Associates in the recent past : Gigabit LAN infrastructure A large retailer required a LAN network capable of supporting in excess of 1000 devices, spread roughly evenly between PC devices and point-of-sale devices. All devices run Windows NT. The network was required to deliver a 500MB file via unicast (multicast was not an option with the clients selected software package) to 500 POS terminals each night. Sinclair Associates designed a network based around 26 communications rooms, all connected to a central switch facility using redundant gigabit ethernet connections. From each of these communications rooms, a number of switched 10/100Mbps connections are made to local PCs, printers, POS terminals and other devices. The network supports over 1800 ports and manages to successfully deliver the 500MB file in a fraction of the time the client stipulated as the transmission window. This network therefore meets the clients requirements for today and provides capacity for expansion both in terms of the number of terminals and the size of files which can be sent overnight. The customer also entered into a support agreement for this infrastructure and similar infrastructures at their other 3 sites, all of which have been designed and installed by Sinclair Associates.
Multi-site ISDN network Sinclair Associates have recently designed a major upgrade to an ISDN network for a retailer with over 3000 remote sites. The retailer had a number of different methods of collecting data from these sites and required a design which would scale to poll all of these sites from a common platform. Sinclair Associates, in conjunction with Cisco Systems, designed a redundant topology using high-end Cisco routers at the Central site, allowing the operation to continue in the event of a major failure in either router hardware or Telco line plant. The system currently supports over 1200 remote ISDN routers (some of which were installed using Sinclair Associates project management services) and is designed to scale to 3000 sites and beyond using up to 600 ISDN channels split over two routers at the central site.
